Charity Miles

I am not a runner. I never have been and I likely never will be. But, I do like to try to be healthy and get my body moving a little bit every day. This can be difficult when you work from home and the majority of your job requires you to sit. So, I've been fairly good at making sure to take a walk every day, weather permitting. I joined a gym a few years ago and I (like so many others) went fairly regularly for awhile, but then I kept finding excuses not to go. My main excuse lately is that it is a lot more fun and convenient to just take a walk outside instead of getting in my car, driving to the gym, seeing naked women in the locker room, getting on a treadmill and pretty much always having someone on the treadmill(s) right next to me.

So, even though i haven't been to the gym in months, I have been doing better at taking walks. Whether it be a quick walk around the block or longer, I make sure to walk almost every day. I track my miles and steps on my iPod. It helps motivate me. Lately, I had been seeing postings on Facebook from someone using Charity Miles. I decided to look into it. Its an app you can download onto your smart phone and it tracks your miles. At the beginning of each walk, you choose which Charity you want to help, press Start, and get walking. Simple as that!

My only criticism of the app is that it doesn't always count all of my miles. But, its an easy way to help others and to help motivate myself to keep walking. I would recommend this app to anyone who takes walks, runs or bikes! This is the website for more info: http://www.charitymiles.org/
